Intention Setting
Mascari, Brooke. August 27th, 2024.
Our bodies are formed and influenced by everything we do. That includes how we choose our environment, the food we eat, our movement, and also our intentions!
Let’s take some time to set some good intentions for greater health and happiness in all areas of life. Intention setting is not only something we can do at the beginning of the New Year, it is something we can do daily. It’s always an excellent time to realign, focus, and be intentional about the direction of our lives.
First, take some time to allow yourself to relax wherever you are at this moment. Take a few full deep breaths. Allow any tension in your body to release; in your hands or feet, in your shoulders or neck, and in your face or jaw.
Every intention you have, from an intention to get physically stronger or to lead a more peaceful happy life, is a signal to your mind-body system to realign. Intentions are a powerful and incredible tool to gain clarity on our journey through life.
Intentions have the power to shape who you are. They are the programming language influencing the expression of our mind and body.
With this in mind, let’s set some new intentions for our lives!
Let us begin:
Allow yourself to dwell on the intentions below so they can begin to shift your mind and body. Perhaps allow yourself to dwell on any intentions that resonate with you the most.
I love the body I have.
Feel appreciation, gratitude, and openness toward the body you have, regardless of its condition. By this very acceptance of your body, it will begin to change and shift away from disturbance and into healing.
I love the mind I have.
Allow any judgment you have about your mind to flow away. Allow openness to simply let the mind be.
I love and welcome all parts of myself.
This intention sends a signal within that no matter what has happened in the past, you accept and love all parts of who you are. There are no parts that need to be hidden. Every part deserves love and is being loved.
I am safe.
As you welcome and love all of yourself, a sense of vulnerability can emerge. Stay with this vulnerability. Notice the aspect of you that is aware of this vulnerability. This part of you that is always safe, capable, and present. Allow yourself to rest in knowing you’re safe and are choosing the best decisions to keep yourself safe.
These above intentions set the stage for further intentions because they allow our body-mind system to come into rest, receptivity, and creativity. We must offer love and compassion to ourselves on our journey to deeper healing. When we become rigid or judgmental toward ourselves, this sets the stage for further rigidity and judgment toward not only ourselves but toward others as well.
Remember that any mistake we may have made in the past is forgivable, and can be a catalyst propelling us further as we learn and grow from mistakes. May we send love and acceptance to ourselves so we can grow and progress into more growth, health, and service. Let us continue with further intentions:
My body knows how to heal.
Recognize the intelligence that works in your body. Breathing, digesting, and heartbeating are all processes that function perfectly without any conscious thought on your part. Feel this intelligence acting within you, taking the necessary steps for healing. Visualize any parts of your body that need healing beginning to reorganize and assume a healthy form.
I know which choices serve me and which do not serve me (remembering that what serves me also serves and blesses those around me).
Acknowledge the intelligence that guides you in making the best choices in every area of your life. Feel that the answers or a way of getting the answers is already within you. You intuitively know which foods nourish you, which relationships support you, and which daily habits sustain you. You can sense when something feels right and when it doesn’t feel right.
I dare to make the best decisions for myself.
Just as you can see the right steps to take, you also have the courage to carry out those steps. Feel the courage welling up in your abdomen and chest. Allow your actions to align with your intuition and thoughts.
I can thrive no matter what comes my way.
When you take the steps that are right for you, new circumstances may present themselves. You have the ability to not only survive these new circumstances but to thrive among them. Your vision and creativity go with you as you navigate whatever shows up.
Feel the power of these intentions within you. Feel the seeds of intention being nourished deep within yourself.
Take a few deep breaths and allow the empowerment and courage from these intentions to flow through you.
As you go about your day, the seeds of your intention may begin to sprout. They may present themselves as subtle intentions. When you detect them, give them attention and allow them to shape your mind, body, and experiences.
Blessings on your journey to perfect health and happiness,
