Contentment
Mascari, Brooke. August 26th, 2024
Our human nature seems to tell us to constantly need or want something; that we are lacking. Once we gain or achieve the things we strive for, the bar is moved higher to something else we feel we must have.
This feeling often comes from the subtle body, the part of us that makes up our mind and ego. The ego never feels content, and always tells us to strive for more and more.
Today, let us tap into the higher level of our Being; the Causul Body/Spirit. Let us set aside all our needs and wants so we can simply be content with what we already have.
Happiness seems to come and go as things appear and disappear from our lives. Contentment is a longer-lasting feeling of satisfaction, wholeness, and peace.
Let’s take a few minutes and focus on the joy we already have in our lives!
Begin by asking yourself,
“What’s really important in my life? What brings me deep down lasting satisfaction?”
Perhaps it’s something material? Your work? Hobbies? Relationships? Lifestyle?
What brings you happiness without having to acquire more?
If something comes to your mind, allow it to come. If not, allow that too.
Take a moment to look at your daily habits. Do you allow time for the things you love to do?
Are you a multitasker?
Can you slow down and give yourself enough time to enjoy each thing; the many things you do daily?
How much time do you spend watching the news or on social media?
Do you eat slowly and enjoy each delicious bite?
Are you constantly thinking about the future?
Let’s commit to helping ourselves be more content today!
Benjamin Franklin says,
“Contentment makes poor men rich, and discontent makes rich men poor.”
As with so many things in life (and some would argue all things in life), everything depends on perspective.
Let’s repeat and set some intentions:
“I will pause each time I feel myself being unhappy with someone or something.”
“I won’t buy anything that I don’t really need.”
“I will practice gratitude and show my appreciation.”
“I will enjoy the simple things in my life.”
“I will try to be more present and enjoy the moment.”
“I will appreciate and enjoy all the blessings in my life.”
Now take in a deep breath. As you go through your day, see if you can enjoy the day simply for how it is.
What comes will come, and what goes will go. Be content with what remains and allow yourself to smile. Don’t try to control, but allow things to flow as they need.
Blessings and may you truly feel the beauty of contentment today,
