Interview with a Tree?
Brooke Mascari, CAI. November 10th, 2024
This week, The Period Company (www.period.co) shared some very insightful thoughts. I wanted to re-share! Often, we may feel a sense of heaviness for the divisiveness in our country and our world. But let’s join Period Co. on an interview with a tree and see what we can learn on this topic! Perhaps we aren’t as divided as it sometimes seems and perhaps a tree might have some wisdom to share.

“At Period., we did something unusual. We went and interviewed a tree about their thoughts on what’s been happening in our world currently and with our crazy politics. Here’s a snippet from our conversation:
Period.: Hello! How are you feeling about the election?
Tree: Hello! What’s an election?
Period.: It’s where the Democrats and the Republicans have a contest to see who’ll be president.
Tree: Democrat? Republican? I’m sorry, I have no idea what you’re talking about. And what’s a president?
Period.: They run the country.
Tree: Okay... What’s a country?
Period.: It’s a self-defining territory with borders and its own rules and economy.
Tree: A what and a what and a what? You’ve lost me again.
Period.: So you have no idea of this enormous thing that happened this week?
Tree: Do you mean the enormous thing that’s happening right now - which is that we’re all alive and connected to each other and part of this amazing Planet, with all separation being an illusion? Because I know about that thing! I know I’m connected to you - and the soil, and the animals, and to the sky, and every other being. There is a creative life force that binds us all.
Period.: Like the internet?
Tree: The what? What I mean to say is - we all belong, we all have a place, and we’re all one. If ever you forget what you’re truly part of, just stop by me for a moment, listen to the birds, or let a breeze rush over you and we’ll help you to remember.”
So grateful for the wisdom and serenity of nature. Profound! Love and blessings this week!
